On June 13, 1971, a day dedicated to the Doctor of the Church, San Antonio de Padua, the Province was established in North American territory, under the title of “Santa Clara de Asís”.

The celebration of the Chapter was held at the retirement home “El Poverello de Asís” in San Fernando, California.

In the month of October 1971, the canonical visitation was made to the 10 houses that would make up the Province. The sisters of Tijuana, Baja California, and Hermosillo, Sonora accepted the decision of the General Chapter to form part of the United States Province in order to increase the personnel necessary for its establishment.
