On December 12, 1993, by virtue of the faculty granted to the competent authority by Canon Law (C 581) and by our Constitutions in articles 172 and 228 to the Superior General with the consent of her Council, by this Decree :

I ESTABLISH AND PROCLAIM THE ESTABLISHED PROVINCE OF EASTERN CENTRAL AMERICA AND PERU UNDER THE TITLE OF FRANCISCAN PROVINCE OF NUESTRA SEÑORA DE LA PAZ.

Said Province is constituted as an authentic collegiate legal person with all the rights and obligations that, according to canon and proper law, are incumbent on it. With its headquarters in City. Merliot, La Libertad, El Salvador, Central America, has 24 houses, from the East of El Salvador, Nicaragua, Costa Rica and Peru.

Given in San Salvador, El Salvador, Central America, on the feast of Our Lady of Guadalupe, December 12, 1993.
