The two provinces of Mexico were erected within the Holy Mass on August 15, 1973 and the name of each one was chosen the day before by secret ballot, leaving the Province of southern Mexico with the name of “Our Lady of Guadalupe”. ”.

At 5:00 p.m. that day, in the midst of the solemnity of the Holy Sacrifice, when the Gospel had just been announced, and the clock marked exactly 5:35 p.m., the Rt. M. General María Teresa Núñez Acevedo, read the Erection Decree in the following terms:

IN THE NAME OF THE LORD. AMEN.
By virtue of the power granted by the Sacred Congregation for Religious and Secular Institutes, dated October 16, 1971, I hereby erect and declare established the Province of Northern Mexico, under the title:  Province of Our Lady of Guadalupe.
